Extended Biography

Growing up in the most isolated city in the world, Perth, Western Australia didn't get in the way of Mischa's dreams to be an actor. She has diligently pursued acting since starting drama classes at the tender age of 6 years old. She is a graduate of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City and a current improvisation student at the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Since graduating from Stella Adler Mischa has consistently been cast and working in NYC - whether in a TV show, film, webseries, voice over, play, documentary, music video or playreading - and she is always looking for more work. Her most recent work has been with Amazon and Funny Or Die in a film called Soojung Dreams of Fiji, the internationally renowned Punchdrunk performing in NYC and Miami, the webseries Then That Happened (nominated Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy and Outstanding Writing at the LA Webfest), a solo-show called Thread by Elena Zucker at the NYC Fringe and playing the lead in the feature film Set To Rise.

Mischa was accepted into the specialist drama school, John Curtin College of the Arts (graduates include Avatar star Sam Worthington) for the last two years of her secondary education. She was awarded ‘Top of Drama’ for both years. She then completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Curtin University, majoring in Performance Studies with a minor in Film and Television. Mischa's dedication to constant growth has motivated her to participate in many short courses including Upright Citizen's Brigade, One on One Studios' Intensive, Private Singing, Puppetry and the Mike Leigh Process.

After graduating from Curtin University Mischa was immediately cast in her first adult professional play “Phaedra’s Love” by Sarah Kane, where she discovered her love for physical theatre. She has since worked in close to 100 plays, films, webseries', music videos, voice overs and commercials.

Being keen to constantly improve her craft, Mischa established Advanced Acting Sessions in 2009 which were the only regular theatre acting classes available for professionals in Perth. Out of this experience Mischa, Georgia King and Alexis Davis co-founded the theatre and film production company Little y. Alexis tragically passed away in 2010 and the team at Little y decided all future productions will be done in her honour. Little y are committed to exploring the power and complexity of marginalised women by starting with the question... y? Advanced Acting Sessions were the starting point for over 5 plays.

Mischa is passionate about making a difference to women and the underprivileged. In New York she has volunteered at the Stella Adler Outreach Program, the Stella Adler Teen Programs and as the External Relations Manager at Theatre East. She has also worked with disabled students in creating a show and with inner city youth at the Leadership Program and with teenagers in the Bronx for Girl Be Heard. In Perth she has produced and directed films on topics like the challenges of being a refugee and making theatre with disabled actors; taught young people drama, empathy skills and self confidence; and started Advanced Acting Sessions in Perth which have given around twenty directors work and emerging actors the opportunity to act in over five productions so far, including the Award Winning and sold out "Scent Tales" which completed a State Tour in 2013. She looks forward to continuing her efforts to make a difference throughout her life.
